Share of the ICT sector in GDP is measured using the value added (VA) concept = VA at factor cost of ICT sector / VA at factor costs of all NACE sectors x 100,

where:

  • VA at factor cost of ICT sector comes from the Structural Business Statistics (SBS) (Eurostat)

  • VA at factor costs of all NACE sectors is calculated as a difference between Gross VA (from National Accounts) and Other taxes less other subsidies on production (from National Accounts) (Eurostat)

ICT sector in NACE Rev. 2 (based on the 2006 OECD definition) corresponds to:

  • ICT Sector – Total: 261 + 262 + 263 + 264 + 268 + 465 + 582 + 61 + 62 + 631 + 951
  • ICT Manufacturing: 261 + 262 + 263 + 264 + 268
  • ICT services: 465 + 582 + 61 + 62 + 631 + 951
